Internet Marketing is the Key to Your Home Based Business

Internet Marketing is the Key to Your Home Based Business

Author: Larry Mueller

Having owned and operated over 30 successful small businesses, I understand how important marketing is to a business.  But traditional marketing through advertising, direct mail, telemarketing, cold calling and other lead-generator tools have become far less effective in today's economy.

Today, the buying public is increasingly using the internet as an informational tool.  Indeed, survey research underscores how profoundly indispensable the internet is to today's consumer.

According to data aggregated by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, 89% of Internet users use a search engine like Google for general information and nearly half conducts a search every day.  What's more, 83% goes online to research a service or product that they're considering buying and 75% shops on the Web.

And it's not just teenagers and 20-somethings who have helped Google become a $100 billion company.  While 90% of Americans 18 to 29 years old go online to search for information, that number actually jumps to 92% for those 30 to 49 and 88% for Americans 50 to 64.  Even for those 65 and older, the percentage remains very high--at 80%.

If you're running a small business, looking to start a home based business or trying to take your network marketing business to the next level, internet marketing could be the key to separating yourself from the competition.

Last year, I joined a network marketing business.  After a very strong start, I noticed that things started to taper off.  I wanted to regain the ground I had lost and sought tips on how I could deepen the pool of potential leads.

To my great fortune,  I learned of a dynamic internet marketing plan that was created by the networking company I had become affiliated with the year before.  I went back to school, did my homework and have learned how to successfully market--and grow--all of my businesses on the Internet.

But I'm still learning.  And with each day, I become even more convinced that internet marketing is the wave of the future.

Perhaps there's no better time to hit the ground running and learn to become an expert on internet marketing today.  Research shows that 97% of people that use the internet to market a product or business don't know how to effectively do so.

So the key question, then, is how can you learn the tools to become the best internet marketer?

I would like to share with you some tips on how you can learn to make the right decision on starting, growing and marketing your online home based business.  I am confident you will you find that this information will help you become part of the 3% that's discovered how the Internet has revolutionized how businesses think about marketing.

7 Ways To Increase Cash Flow And Your Net Income

7 Ways To Increase Cash Flow And Your Net Income

Author: Yvette S

There is no denying that we are currently in a global financial decline which is causing people to spend less and companies to produce less. However, this situation does not mean you should throw in the towel or stand still and do nothing until things blow over.

Let me share a secret with you. To create a strategic plan to help you succeed and thrive in your business no matter what the economic conditions is not complicated, nor does it have to be overwhelming. It just requires a bit of advance planning.

You see, the main reason why some business owners are not being affected very much by today's market is because they have long- and short-term marketing and growth plans. In addition, their short term plans can be quickly shifted around to accommodate day-to-day market fluctuations.

The most common way to gauge your success is by having systems to track everything you do in your business. This will allow you to know which services or products are bringing in the most profits and subsequently how much money you get to keep (your net income).

If you have been caught ill-prepared for the current financial turmoil, and are having cash flow problems don't worry. Today is a new day, a new beginning to remedy your management shortcomings. If you have been inconsistent with marketing planning and have overlooked the establishment of a sound business growth system, I can offer a quick remedy that you can implement to help you weather these lean times. Starting...NOW!

Here are a few ways to increase cash flow and your net income:

1. Price your services for profit. Many business owners start cutting their prices, and though this strategy provides more immediate income, it hurts you in the long run. Do not cut your prices; instead increase your value. Even standing in a financial quagmire, people want value. I believe your tactic should be to reduce your customers' fear of spending and increase value by offering a stronger guarantee, a better return policy, more access to you and/or your staff, a better payment plan and so on.

2. Establish invoice systems. You'll get your money more quickly and consistently.

3. Drop projects that are not bringing in money. Go over your reports and either drop or postpone any project that is currently causing cash drain.

4. Spend most of your time promoting or selling income-generating services and products.

5. Increase efficiency of your marketing dollars. Increase marketing tactics ("systems") that have proven to be profitable. As loyalties loosen, your competitors' customers are more willing to jump ship.

6. Add a new marketing channel. If you are promoting online, then venture into offline marketing and vice versa. If you are marketing via print, then pick up your cell phone and follow up. Your tactical mix will depend on who you are targeting, but bear in mind those solo business owners who show their tenacity in the coming months will be the ones who increase their market share as competitors drop off. Now is the time for you to extend or complement your existing marketing strategy.

7. Find out what your market wants. It's crucial that you know your clients. Make sure your offer is on target with crystal clear benefits and a distinct, differentiating feature from other aspects of your business. One of the best ways I know to find out what your niche market is willing to buy right now is by conducting a survey.
There are different survey types depending on where your customer resides and how they operate. You can run a telephone, email or main page survey. Use the results to craft a unique message, create a new product or service and beat your competition.

Hint: When you speak to your clients on the phone, weave in a few fact-finding questions or ask them at the end of your call to do an informal survey. You also can run an email survey to keep costs down, or you can use email combined with a web-based software for surveys. Consider putting up a survey on your main Web page or on your "Thank You" or "Squeeze" pages.

This article will not have any power unless you integrate the great ideas I have shared. Make a promise to yourself and your business to integrate at least one of these strategies into your business in the next 30 days. If you make more than one of these changes, you'll see things happen even faster and not have to worry about where that next check is coming from.

Make Social Bookmarking Your Viral Marketing Buddy

Make Social Bookmarking Your Viral Marketing Buddy

Author: Derrick CK Lee

As we are all know, social networking is currently one of the hottest trends on the world wide web today. With that, social bookmarking sites are becoming immensely popular with many internet users.

If you are not familiar with the term "Social Bookmarking", it is basically a way for internet users to store, organize and manage bookmarks of their favorite sites online instead of saving them as bookmarks in their own PC's browser. These online bookmarks are usually categorized chronologically based on relevant keywords or tags. This process of tagging is commonly referred to as "Social Tagging".

Technically speaking, "Social Tagging" is the process by which internet users add "metadata" in the form of keywords to shared content so that other online users with similar interests can easily find them online. These social bookmarks can either be made public ( usually the case ) or made private, shared only with specified groups of people within a certain domain.

ADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL BOOKMARKING

In my opinion, besides the viral marketing advantages, my main reasons for using social bookmarks lies in the fact that i travel a lot. Personally, I own 2 desktops and a laptop, and I switch between using the different machines very often. This has resulted in my browser's bookmarks becoming overly messy and unmanageable.

With the introduction of social bookmarking, now I can access my favorite bookmarks from any computer across the globe as long as there is an internet connection.

But before you can begin bookmarking, you must first sign up and create an account with a social bookmarking site of your choice.

Here is a list of Social Bookmarking websites on the world wide web today.

* DIGG
* STUMBLEUPON
* DEL.ICIO.US
* TECHNORATI
* PROPELLER
* REDDIT
* BLINKLIST
* FURL

Once you've completed that, you can begin bookmarking interesting and useful links in your area of interest or expertise, in particular, interesting webpages from your own content.

Once you have bookmarked them, you can view, sort  & categorize them by keywords or tags as mentioned earlier.

The beauty of social bookmarking is that once you have properly categorize your links, you have the benefit of sharing and viewing other related links that have been similarly categorized by other internet users.

It allows you to meet other individuals who are interested in the same topics and perhaps share knowledge of internet resources that you aren't aware of.

Most social bookmarking websites allows you to set up a RSS (Really Simple Syndication) web feed for each category that you submitted to. The main benefit of this is that it automatically alerts you to new bookmarking links in your areas of interest.

When your RSS web feed becomes viewable to other online users of similar interests, they can copy your submitted bookmarks to their own collection if they find it to be useful or interesting, intermittently bringing additional exposure to your submitted content.

To attain maximum viral marketing results, you can assertively promote your RSS web feeds to the various RSS directories and search engines, syndicate them and make them available to an even wider audience on the world wide web.

However, do make an truthful effort to contribute interesting and useful links instead of a whole bunch of sales or marketing stuff.

VIRAL MARKETING EFFECTS

As a viral marketing strategy, the main aim is to share links to your blog as well as links to other informational and resource websites you consider to be useful.

By doing so, you are actually killing two birds with one stone, not only are you increasing the level of exposure to your own site, you are also helping promote other people's content as well.

In turn, others might return the favor as well, making it beneficial for all parties in the long run.

However, if you spice up your web feed with too much marketing related or affiliate links, you risk the fact that some of these online users might discontinue your web feed and label you as a spammer and all your social bookmarking efforts will be totally wasted.

Balancing between being ethical and providing a useful service to others while promoting your own content enables you to morally yet effectively utilize social bookmarking as an essential viral marketing tool for your online business.

If done appropriately, social bookmarking can achieve enornomous viral effects just by sharing information that you found to be interesting.

Reaching Lifelong Goals

In addition to this blog space, I also am blogging about my journey as a Non Traditional College Student.   Older students returning to college are called "non trads" or Nontraditional Students.   We are the largest growing demographic in higher education today.   I notice around my campus here in Oregon, that the student population is older than you would expect to see in a college.   Students over 40 are everywhere.   This is why I have started a resource site for Non Trads.   We need all the help we can muster.

Please spend some time with my Reaching Lifelong Goals  Non Traditional Student Blog...And if you are a non traditional student starting college this fall term, tell other non trads about this site.   I post links to help with scholarship searches, study skills, History Major tidbits and much more.   We need to get the word out to our fellow older returning college students that we are a major influence on college life today!

Starting an Internet Business - What's Your Plan?

Starting an Internet Business - What's Your Plan?

Author: C Harris

It's a given that setting up a money-making Internet business is quick, fairly simple, and (best of all) relatively inexpensive.  But believe it or not, these wonderful advantages can also create a danger zone.  Why is that?

The danger comes when the individual doesn't take the endeavor seriously enough to do some strategic planning.  It's quick, it's simple.  You can get set up in a day or so with just a few bucks.  Because of this, many people approach the business with a flippant attitude, and conduct business in the same manner.  This is a shame because it is a great waste of time and energy.

Think about it.  Have you been guilty of behaving like a fickle butterfly flitting from flower to flower as you jump from one online business to the next?  And all the time, you are either wondering why this isn't working.  Or you're bad-mouthing the whole internet business scene proclaiming to the whole world that "this just doesn't work."  Now your attitude is sour and your frustration is at an all-time high.

There is so much available out there on the Net, and many of the offers to help you make money online truly are viable, legitimate, and highly lucrative.  But only if you take your internet money-making business seriously.  What do I mean by that?

To take your business seriously, stop and think of how you would handle your business if you had to pay several thousand dollars just to open the doors.  I daresay much more planning would go into the project.  In fact, you would probably be setting up a business plan before you ever started the business.

It's no different with your home-based business.  Because the potential is so vast, you would do well to spend quality time planning out your venture.

* What business best suits you and your temperament?
* How much extra income do you want to make?
* How soon do you need to turn a profit?
* Are you looking at physical products to promote; or intellectual products?
* How much time to you have to invest in your money-making internet business?
* How much cash do you have to invest in the start up; and how much ongoing cash do you have to maintain it?

All of these questions should be answered and identified in your "planning stages."

It's a fact that those individuals who put the most time into planning their home-based business, are also the ones who spend the most time monitoring their business activities.  They are the ones who go the extra mile in doing such things as ad tracking, and checking customer (or site visitor) feedback.

It's also a fact that these same individuals are the ones who become the most successful in a work-at-home business.

You've read the testimonies of those who have made incredible amounts of money with an online business opportunity.  They didn't do it by mindlessly jumping from business to business.  They did careful planning, a great deal of research, and tested various advertising programs.

You can do the same.  And you can reap the same rewards!
